The Coach: Lashawn Highsmith
The Word: The roller coaster saga at ACD continues to get interesting and not disappoint. Longtime coach James Sims left to take the Hawthorne job, with him leaving several of his players left and enrolled at Mandarin Christian. The Apaches hired former Bolles assistant coach Stan Wrubluwski but he resigned the first day of spring practice. An assistant coach was named interim coach but he two resigned and the Apaches were forced to close down spring practice. One of Smith’s assistant coach Lashawn Highsmith was named the new coach in June and will take over a program in financial and athletic shambles, despite making the playoffs three of the last four years.
